Cali Building Pros’ roots go back to 2014, when our fathers were already running roofing crews across Los Angeles. Co-founders Jirir “Jay” Wosgerijyan and Sevada “Matt” Babakhani — Jay goes by his first name on the job, Matt goes by his middle name — grew up on those jobsites and learned the trade hands-on — tearing off old roofs, learning flashing and underlayment, figuring out what actually holds up in Southern California heat, wind, and the occasional wildfire ember storm — long before either of them wrote a business plan.

When it came time to take over, we didn’t start from scratch. We reorganized the business as California Building Professionals and earned our own contractor’s license so we could run it our way. Only after years on the tools did we move into project management: coordinating crews, pulling permits, and overseeing jobs from the first inspection to final walkthrough.

That order matters. Most homeowners can tell within five minutes whether the person quoting their roof has actually been on one. Because we came up as installers first, we know what a rushed job looks like from the ground — and we built the company specifically to avoid becoming one of the crews that cuts corners once the estimator leaves.

Today, that means every customer works directly with the people managing their project, not a sales rep who hands the job off to a subcontractor. Whether that’s Jay and Matt directly or one of our project managers — like Leo and Steven — the same standard applies on every job. We call this “hands-on before hands-off,” and it’s the reason our estimates tend to be more specific — and more honest — than the standard sales pitch.
